I have a pretty small galley kitchen (more on my kitchen later), and counter space is precious. So when I dedicate a large portion of my counter top to a single kitchen appliance, it’s important. In my kitchen, my standard white Kitchen Aid mixer is that important.
Tucked away in a corner, it is my daily reminder of my grandmother. I’m transported to the stool in her kitchen where I would watch her cook. I would ask tons of questions, and she helped shape my love for cooking – cooking for family and friends with love. When she moved to California a few years ago, she gave me this mixer.
Every time I use it, I think of Grandma and the tradition I am continuing – a tradition of strong Mauck women who can cook. I can’t wait to share that love of cooking with the next generation of Maucks.
Is there something in your kitchen that inspires you? Reminds you of someone who inspires your cooking?
